On today’s episode of the Felony Friday show on the Lions of Liberty Podcast host John Odermatt is joined by the always entertaining Brian McWilliams! Dedicated listeners to the show have probably realized by now that there are two distinct formats of the show. There is an interview format, where I’ve talked to leaders in criminal justice reform like Attorney and Podcaster Joseph Balliro Jr, activist Regina Hufnagel, author Jeffrey Tucker, author and podcaster Michael Santos and radio host and documentary film maker John Ziegler. We’ve also had another format with a more conversational flow. For these shows a fellow contributors here at Lions of Liberty has joined me as a co-host to discuss felonies or criminal justice issues trending in the news. This show follows the latter format and today we talked about two stories trending in the news and then played America’s fastest growing podcast game show “Is this a crime and should anyone do time?”
What we talked about:
– During this show we discussed a recent case in Upstate N.Y. where students who claimed to be victims of a hate crime and attack, now are facing criminal charges of their own for fabricating the racial motivated attack. We discussed the morality and effectiveness of hate crime laws.
– We also talked about a Texas town that made the controversial decision not to renew its contract with the local police department and instead hired a private security firm to combat crime.
– Finally we focused on two stories while playing “Is this a crime and should anyone do time.” We talked about a Kentucky Meteorologist and her husband who were arrested on marijuana and weapons charges. We also discussed felony charges that an ex-Michigan lawmaker is facing resulting from an affair and the bizarre cover-up he used.
