On this week’s Electric Libertyland host Brian McWilliams rails a bit about Rand Paul’s flipping opposition to Mike Pompeo’s Secretary of State nomination, then welcomes in journalist Ford Fischer of News2Share.com to discuss his experience on the ground in Newnan, GA covering a neo nazi rally that drew far more Antifa than nazis. The Georgia event resulted in conflicts between the massive police force in attendance and counter-protesters, both of whom outnumbered event organizers many times over.
Brian and Ford then move on to discuss questions of the state’s duty to protect free speech vs. simply stand back to allow it, and where that line is drawn. Finally, the pair look at a conversation Ford had with sex workers following the passing of the FOSTA Sex Trafficking bill that has curtailed free speech online and damaged sex workers’ ability to make a living, while arguably doing nothing to stop actual sex trafficking.
