The Chairman of the Federal Reserve, the most powerful man in the world, Ben Bernanke testified last week during the Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to the Congress. During his testimony, Bernanke discussed the state of the economy during the final quarter of last year, the economic outlook for 2012 and beyond, and monetary policy. Although, Mr. Bernanke’s lifestyle or personality will never be confused with the “Most interesting man in the World,” they do share one common distinction – both men have
There is always much hand wringing about losing jobs to foreign countries, due to lower costs for labor, cheaper material costs, etc. However another major incentive to get out of Dodge is that the U.S. has a corporation-killing tax rate of 39.2%. As of right now that ranks 2nd in the world behind Japan, which stands at 39.5%. But Japan is slashing its Corporate Tax to 35% next month, making the U.S. the proud new title holder of this dubious
Considering our extensive coverage of the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, and it’s provisions allowing for indefinite detention of anyone, including American citizens, by the military without charge, we’re probably past due for an update. The NDAA is frightening for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that it essentially nullifies the 5th and 6th Amendments of the Bill of Rights, which protects against government abuse of of authority in legal proceedings and guarantees the accused
Something happens to the human body after 48 hours or so in Las Vegas. For a solid week afterward, it essentially rebels against the mind that ordered it through a seemingly pointless hardcore bootcamp of consumption and a complete lack of regard for the most basic of health tenets. Exhausted and need to get some shuteye? Have fun tossing and turning all night. Need to finally grab a bite to eat after a weekend of forgetting that food comes in solid form?
Al Gore, our favorite aspiring autocratic visionary, has been working day and night to devise a plan to save the world, again. Thank God! Or should I say, Thank AlGore! Mr. Gore could have retired and left the feeble people of the world to fend for themselves. After all, the man created the internet and has saved the world from certain Armageddon by educating the masses on the severity of Global Warming. (or…..Climate change. That’s what we’re calling it now, right?) If you didn’t detect the sarcasm, then
I don’t put much faith in these debates and neither should you. If you decide your voting preferences on the little snippets that these shows provide then you probably haven’t done your due diligence. I found this particularly true in the case of our champion of liberty Ron Paul. Paul, by his own admission and the critiques of many, is not a great debater and besides, you should know his answers to all the silly questions before he even responds.
Just in case you didn’t realize it, we are here to inform you that Ron Paul is not only still in the race, but also a growing force to be reckoned with. It looks like the media has found its timely darling in Rick Santorum….again, and its nationwide disciples are playing along. His latest surge depresses me more than his last go round, but this one worries me a lot less. We’ve seen this before and we will see it
Hi all. Friend of Lions of Liberty, Brian Engelman of The NewAmerican Media, had the opportunity to interview former Louisiana Governor and 2012 GOP Presidential Candidate Buddy Roemer. The interview features several questions from Lions of Liberty bloggers Marc and Odie, and it’s refreshing to hear from a voice that has been blacked out by the media even worse than Lions of Liberty favorite Ron Paul. We appreciate Governor Roemer taking the time to give an in depth interview and
Love is passion. When you have true passion, whether it’s towards another person or a craft, hobby, pet, or anything else at all, you are practicing the highest form of freedom. To fully embrace someone or something as part of yourself is something that cannot be defined or codified by any other entity or group of people. It is something deeply personal and deeply unique to every individual. It’s certainly not about special holidays, fancy dinners, jewelry or hallmark cards, though
The decision I made several years ago to buy a 15 mile/gallon gas guzzling Ford Explorer is really coming back to bite me in the ass. This week the national average price for a gallon of gasoline has risen above $3.50 per gallon for only the third time in history. Even more disturbing is that the normal highs for gasoline are achieved in the spring and summer months. There is logical reasoning behind this trend. Less expensive blends of gasoline
