Just watched a fascinating video by an engineer named Jonathan Corbett, who took metal cases through the TSA’s incredibly expensive, potentially cancer-causing peep-o-matic body scanners with no problems whatsoever. He created the video (below) explaining how he did the deed, which in a nutshell revolves around the color display that the machines use. Basically, foreign objects appear as dark black/blue images against the white image of the human body in the scanner. However, because the background is pitch black around
Popcorn is a delicious snack, I think we can all agree on that, no? In fact, pretty much every snack at the movie theater is downright scrumptious – be they Junior Mints, Goobers, or the delightful SnoCaps (my personal favorite). And there isn’t a much better way to get a break from all the seriousness of the world – what with the Federal Reserve destroying our currency while the government takes away our freedoms and such – than to sit
President Obama has been topping news reports repeatedly recently with his various statements regarding Iran, Israel and the possibility of Iran becoming a nuclear power. Most recently Obama met with Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, and in a widely quoted statement informed him that the U.S. “had Israel’s back.” This comes in the wake of Netanyahu claiming that Israel would “reserve the right to defend itself,” with the potential for a military strike against Iran’s nuclear sites a strong possibility. Obama
THIS JUST IN FROM THE LIONS OF LIBERTY NEWS DESK: It has just been confirmed, in case everyone wasn’t already convinced, that U.S. Senator John McCain – most recently infamous for his co-authoring of the NDAA – is a crazy effin’ warmonger! Yes, today Senator John McCain, apparently thinking that killing oh 30,000 people or so in Libya and handing it over to Al Qaeda wasn’t quite enough, has called for U.S. airstrikes on the last secular country in the
The Chairman of the Federal Reserve, the most powerful man in the world, Ben Bernanke testified last week during the Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to the Congress. During his testimony, Bernanke discussed the state of the economy during the final quarter of last year, the economic outlook for 2012 and beyond, and monetary policy. Although, Mr. Bernanke’s lifestyle or personality will never be confused with the “Most interesting man in the World,” they do share one common distinction – both men have
There is always much hand wringing about losing jobs to foreign countries, due to lower costs for labor, cheaper material costs, etc. However another major incentive to get out of Dodge is that the U.S. has a corporation-killing tax rate of 39.2%. As of right now that ranks 2nd in the world behind Japan, which stands at 39.5%. But Japan is slashing its Corporate Tax to 35% next month, making the U.S. the proud new title holder of this dubious
Considering our extensive coverage of the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, and it’s provisions allowing for indefinite detention of anyone, including American citizens, by the military without charge, we’re probably past due for an update. The NDAA is frightening for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that it essentially nullifies the 5th and 6th Amendments of the Bill of Rights, which protects against government abuse of of authority in legal proceedings and guarantees the accused
Something happens to the human body after 48 hours or so in Las Vegas. For a solid week afterward, it essentially rebels against the mind that ordered it through a seemingly pointless hardcore bootcamp of consumption and a complete lack of regard for the most basic of health tenets. Exhausted and need to get some shuteye? Have fun tossing and turning all night. Need to finally grab a bite to eat after a weekend of forgetting that food comes in solid form?
Al Gore, our favorite aspiring autocratic visionary, has been working day and night to devise a plan to save the world, again. Thank God! Or should I say, Thank AlGore! Mr. Gore could have retired and left the feeble people of the world to fend for themselves. After all, the man created the internet and has saved the world from certain Armageddon by educating the masses on the severity of Global Warming. (or…..Climate change. That’s what we’re calling it now, right?) If you didn’t detect the sarcasm, then
I don’t put much faith in these debates and neither should you. If you decide your voting preferences on the little snippets that these shows provide then you probably haven’t done your due diligence. I found this particularly true in the case of our champion of liberty Ron Paul. Paul, by his own admission and the critiques of many, is not a great debater and besides, you should know his answers to all the silly questions before he even responds.
