Ron Paul (per usual) is the voice of reason, speaking out against the ridiculous Donald Trump moderated debate that is set for Dec 27th. Paul rightly slams Trump’s involvement as “beneath the Presidency” and has refused to take part in what can’t hope but be anything but a complete farce. From the standpoint of this blog, there really can’t be any more damning statement made about the current state of the Republican Party than it’s infatuation with Donald Trump. A
I had no idea what money was in 2005. I was now making some, but mostly paying it out to financial institutions that helped me acquire a pretty expensive bachelor’s degree. I had worked for it, used it, saved it, even invested some in my then 23 years of experience, but never, had I really understood it. I was a few credit’s shy of an econ minor from that costly degree, but never really learned a thing about it. Macro
We pride ourselves on our original content here at Lions of Liberty. But sometimes someone does so great a job breaking down an issue that it’s better just to pass the baton. Glenn Greenwald of Salon.com has done an excellent analysis of S. 1867 and exactly what it means in expanding the definition of the “War on Terror” as well as the military’s power to detain “suspected” terrorists, up to and including U.S. Citizens. The biggest point that Greenwald makes

I am not a particularly loud person. I like to kind of skate by unnoticed, never calling much attention to myself. I rarely post Facebook updates like some other friends and do not have a twitter account. Over the last few months, however, I have become somewhat of a Facebook floozy. This is not because I have suddenly become a neo-narcissist that wants you to know every time I do something remotely cool, or how hard my job is, or
The following 61 Senators betrayed you and every other American citizen today by voting against the Udall Amendment, which would strike the provision of the National Defense Autorhization Act which allows for indefinite detention of American citizens by the military Below is the list of Senators who history will remember as amongst those who furthered us down the past of tyranny. Are any of them your Senator? Let them know what you think. Be careful though, speaking out might be
There is a bill currently in the Senate that every American should be extremely concerned about. The National Defense Authorization Act includes Section 1301, which states: “Congress affirms that the authority of the President to use all necessary and appropriate force…includes the authority for the Armed Forces of the United States to detain covered persons…Detention under the law of war without trial”. This clearly gives the power to the President and the military to detain anyone it chooses without trial.
Using a tactic that the US has perfected to disarm and placate its citizens through wordplay, Egypt has renamed its secret police force to “Homeland Security.” Doesn’t that sound all nice and fuzzy? Just like our own incredibly intrusive, liberty & Bill of Rights ignoring “Homeland Security!” This should serve as a wakeup call, that a military dictatorship is ripping a page straight from our so called “free” nation to continue to oppress its citizens. Those crazy central planners in Washington DC are at it again. Out of the goodness of their hearts they have proposed a bill that would eliminate fees on your airline baggage. Economic expert and central planner extraordinaire, Mary Landrieu, is the brilliant mind behind this proposed idiotic piece of legislation. The Senator from Louisiana details her argument below. Air travel can be a stressful experience for many reasons, but unfair fees for basic amenities should not be one of them…….Passengers have been nickeled and dimed for far too long
Something big happened over the summer, something very, very big. My guess is, however, you didn’t even hear about it. As a matter of fact, finding information about it has been nothing short of an extensive research project. The event (or non-event according to our informative media) was the Federal Reserve’s surpassing China as the largest holder of US Treasuries-a.k.a. national debt. This essentially means that the federal government is now the largest creditor of the federal government. Wait, what?
