The Morning Roar: Cops In Salinas CA Shoot Man On Busy Corner, NJ Cop Caught Masturbating In Starbucks, Armed Homeowner Fends Off Five Intruders

Welcome to your Memorial Day edition of The Morning Roar! Since the entire country is not working today, go ahead and enjoy a Bloody Mary while you read the roar. You deserve it!Cops In Salinas CA Shoot Man On Busy CornerPolice in Salina, California shot and killed a man in broad daylight. The officers allege lethal force was necessary because the man swung garden sheers at them.Benswann.com reports on the events that led to the tragic shooting:

Officers found the suspect walking down Elkington Avenue, as captured on a witnesses cell phone camera. The police allege that the suspect had gardening shears in his backpack.Subsequently the officers demanded that the man get on the ground but he refused, said police. The police claim they attempted to use a Taser on the suspect but that it was ineffective and he simply kept walking away.Officers said that the man eventually pulled the garden shears from the backpack and began swinging it at them, although from the footage this is unclear.Fearing being stabbed, the two officers fired on the man, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

You can watch the video below and judge for yourself if you think the officers were justified in killing this man. Please be aware that this video shows a man being killed and is extremely disturbing. After the officers gunned down the man, a witness can be heard screaming, “Why the f— didn’t you guys just Taser him? You guys didn’t even try.”What incentive do the officers have to try to apprehend a criminal without using lethal force?Police rarely are held accountable for using deadly force. Normally, the most significant punishment they’ll face is a paid leave while the shooting is being investigated. Even if charges are eventually brought against an officer, the vast majority of the time the officers walks away with a not guilty verdict. If an everyday citizen killed a person under the same circumstances they would be behind bars for life.Reporting these cop killing stories is not enjoyable and it can be incredibly frustrating to watch case after case where police literally get away with murder. Hopefully, enough people will wake up, and realize that the system is broken. Awarding one group a monopoly on justice has elevated that group above everyone else. Things must change, but I fear in order for an overhaul l of the criminal justice system to occur, things will be getting a lot worse before they get better.NJ Cop Caught Masturbating In StarbucksFor the next story we’ll travel back to the east coast to Cherry Hill, New Jersey where we have another disappointing story involving the police. Fortunately, this time no lives were lost. The only thing lost in this case was the dignity of Lt. Benito Gonzalez. CBS Philly reports:

A Camden County Police Lieutenant has been removed from duty after he was accused of masturbating inside of a Starbucks in Cherry Hill.Lt. Benito Gonzalez Junior has been charged with a disorderly persons lewdness offense. An employee from a store on Route 70 reported the incident to authorities on May 7.Officials say the officer was not on duty at the time.Police have launched a criminal and internal investigation and the department says they are “troubled” by the allegations.

There’s really not too much to say about this one. It is interesting that the officer was suspended without pay. Most police departments suspend officers with pay when they are being investigated, even when they have been involved in a fatal shooting. Apparently, the image of police is more damaged by a story like this one, than say one like the story from California above.Don’t get me wrong, playing with himself in a Starbucks should get this cop fired. But the police in the previous story should be under even more scrutiny. They took a man’s life. There’s no coming back from death.Armed Homeowner Fends Off Five IntrudersThe first two stories highlighted murderous and disgusting behavior by police officers. Reading stories like that can be depressing and cause one to lose hope in humanity. The third story in the roar proves positive things happen when citizens take their protection into their own hands.Guns.com reports on a story out of Indiana where a homeowner fended off five armed intruders with a handgun. The legal gun owner and other residents were even able to apprehend one of the intruders to be turned over to police.

A Fort Wayne resident heard a knock on the front door and went to answer it. When he did, five masked men forced their way inside, at least two of them armed, and ordered everyone to the ground. Three other residents were home at the time and when one of them, Chris Torres, heard rustling downstairs he immediately armed up with a handgun, Journal Gazette reports.Nathan L. Simmerson, 20, armed with a crowbar, headed upstairs and was greeted by the end of a gun barrel. He barricaded himself in the bathroom and when another resident called out to grab an assault rifle (reportedly an AR-15, but local media is calling it an “assault rifle”), the four other crooks that were still downstairs bolted out the front door.Simmerson was abandoned by his accomplices and left alone in the bathroom. He tried to flee, but as he was running down the stairs all four residents tackled him to the ground and kept him there until police arrived.

No police on the scene and the individuals were able to defend themselves with their own firearm, even apprehending one of the individuals that trespassed on their property. It scares me to think how different the outcome of this situation would have been if these homeowners were not armed. I fear that we could be discussing five individuals killed in a break in. The police would have been there just in time to write a report and pick up the bodies. In today’s crazy world, if you’re counting on anyone other than yourself to defend your life or property, then you may want to go back and re-read the first two stories.Read The Morning Roar every weekday Monday-Friday!The Lions of Liberty are on TwitterFacebook & Google+Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!
