Enjoy Your Firework Freedom In These States

Last night, while driving in Los Angeles listening to a local news radio station, the female anchor informed me that the L.A.P.D. wanted all of the city's residents to know that they would be out "in force" to quell any and all illegal use of fireworks. God forbid we celebrate our nations freedom with any sort of freedom of our own.I can still remember when I was young, growing up outside of Philadelphia, PA, when my family and our neighbors would gather to set off a variety of fireworks that would shriek into the sky, or spout beautiful fountains of sparks. Roman candles abounded. Now in PA, sparklers and party snaps are about the only thing available. Apparently the government in PA decided people were too stupid to oversee the use of the sparkler's more entertaining and mildly more dangerous big brothers. The ban on fireworks is just another government overreaction, protecting the .005% of the population who get injured due to their own clumsiness or lack of sense. How many times do we see this, where a well-publicized, extreme minority impacts the vast majority of the population? It's sad that an American tradition is slowly being eroded due to pandering lawmakers and a vocal minority of imbeciles.At least we can celebrate Maine, a stronghold of liberty removing its own ban on consumer use of fireworks. Way to go, Maine!
