FBI's Apple UDID Scandal Just Latest Example of Illegal Tracking

News is breaking of An0nymous splinter group Antisec's hacking of an FBI Agent's laptop, on which they found no fewer than 12 million Apple iPhone, iTouch and iPod UDIDs (Unique Device IDs). The full statement from Anonymous is here, and you can follow Twitter updates here as well, which are being routinely refreshed with developments and commentary. The 12 million dollar question is why the FBI had these ID's which, while not intentionally created by Apple for tracking purposes, can be used to keep tabs on devices with internet capability or GPS. Additionally the ID's come with data that includes the registered address for the product and cell phone number. This isn't the first time that the FBI has been caught tracking individuals without a warrant, which is illegal and unconstitutional. They were recently slapped down by the Supreme Court roughly 7 months ago for using GPS trackers on suspects vehicles without a warrant. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, as the FBI as of right now, has denied any leak, while Anonymous is sticking to its guns and claims that all of this data is from FBI Agent Chris Stangl's laptop.Quite a black eye for the Men in Black.Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!
