Ron Paul, “What Really Divides Us?”Yesterday, during my daily liberty reading, a certain blog post at LewRockwell.com grabbed my attention.  The blog post titled, “Attention White People”, by Thomas DiLorenzo, uncovered some very controversial teaching indoctrinating techniques proposed by AmeriCorps in Wisconsin.  EAGnews reports that one of Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instructions programs, an AmeriCorps operation called VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America), is encouraging white students to wear white wristbands in order to be reminded of their “white privilege”.

Geared towards high school students, the program “seeks to build capacity in schools and districts serving low-income families to develop an effective, sustainable, research-based program of family-school-community partnerships,” according to its Facebook page.That sounds reasonable enough.But the program’s approach becomes a bit suspect when one reads the Gloria Steinem quote on the top of its webpage: “The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn.

The VISTA program’s website contains an incredible amount of leftist propaganda relating to white privilege, male privilege, and straight privilege.  Underneath the quote referenced above lies disturbing “unlearning” material, which VISTA describes as “some good information and places to begin learning”.  The very first link, a blog titled “Debunking White Privilege” informs us all that the moment a white person is born they are racist and will always be racist.  You can never be “clean” from your racism, but can only hope to minimize how racist you are by minimizing the effect of your white privilege.  Here’s the logic these confused individuals follow.

2. it is privilege that creates its corresponding oppression and then there is a feedback loop.a. male privilege produces sexism, and then sexism feeds back into male privlegeb. white privilege produces racism, and then racism feeds back into white privilegec. straight privilege produces homophobia, and then homophobia feeds back into straight privileged. etc.3. privilege (an it's corresponding oppresion) are not marked by intention, they are marked by effecta. privilege causes harmb. harm you don't see because a  lot of it is "negative". more on this later4. partaking in your privilege is to participate in the corresponding oppression.a. if you have white privile, you will be racist.b. if you have male privilege, you will do sexist thingsc. if you have straight privilege, you will contribute to the atmosphere of homophoniad. if you are able-bodied, you will say things that exclude disabled peoplee. this is true even if you are anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophonbic, etc. you can be against a thing, and still be/do that thing5. there is no escape from your privilegea. you will never be clean of it, but you can always become a better person.  you can work to minimize the effect of your privilege

If this doesn’t shock you and make you rethink your stance regarding public education, then you might want to remove your head from your posterior.  How will the parents of these children react when their kids wear white wristbands representing their "privileged" white upbringing ?  The parents should be outraged that the public schools are teaching their children to divide people into groups in order build an opinion of character.  Teaching children to identify people by exterior traits, rather than the content of each individual’s character serves to divide a society.
