The Greatness of Glenn Greenwald
It was on full display yesterday when he took on one of NBC's lead spinster's David Gregory on "Meet the Press". The video of Greenwald's dismantling of Gregory is a must-watch.Greenwald points out the irony of Edward Snowden being charged with espionage for revealing the U.S. government's own spying program. Snoweden could have chosen many more profitable paths with the information he had, but instead of selling it to the highest bidder he chose to only release information to the public revealing the crimes of the U.S. government, extra-judiciously spying upon it's own people.A fascinating exchange takes place when Gregory has the gaul to ask of Greenwald:
To the extent that you have aided and abetted Snowden...why shouldn't you, Mr. Greenwald, be charged with a crime?
Greenwald verbally destroy's whatever may remain of Gregory's journalistic credibility with his response:
I think it's pretty extraordinary that anybody that would call themselves a journalist would publicly muse about whether or not other journalists should be charged with felonies. The assumption in your question David is completely without evidence, the idea that I have aided and abetted him in any way.
We should all be grateful that there are still some real journalists like Greenwald out there, and institutions like The Guardian to support him. Gregory and the talking heads at NBC represent the past; shills for the establishment that go unchallenged in representing the status quo. Greenwald, as a fiercely independent and principled journalist who got his start by just tossing his own blog up one day (kinda like us!) is a better representation of the emerging new media. As more and more people distrust television news, it appears the trends are favoring the reemergence of real journalists like Greenwald.Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!
