TSA Tuesdays: TSA Manager Ironically Charged with Sexual Abuse
It's finally happened: a TSA worker has actually been charged with sexual abuse. The charge does not concern abuse of a passenger as one might expect, but rather that of a fellow TSA agent.From the Lexington Herald-Leader:
A Transportation Security Administration manager at Lexington's Blue Grass Airport resigned after he was charged with sexually abusing a co-worker, according to court documents and TSA officials.Shane Hinkle, 38, of Paris is accused of forcibly touching the co-worker, according to Fayette District Court records.The abuse is alleged to have occurred twice July 31 and twice again Aug. 4. Video of the alleged abuse Aug. 4 was recorded, the documents said.
The TSA sexually abuses air travelers every single day, and plenty of video evidence exists as every single "pat down" is recorded by security cameras. It seems quite ironic to me that when a TSA agent is finally charged with sexual abuse, it is not for the daily abuse of air travelers, but rather of a fellow agent.It is likely that both Hinkle and his co-worker in this case have overseen and participated in the sexual abuse of passengers during pat downs - the grabbing of male genitals, the poking of vaginas - and yet they are not charged with crimes for these acts. Once they slap on that blue shirt and blue gloves and commit sexual abuse in the name of "security", these acts are no longer seen as crimes.
