The Morning Roar: $10M Gold Treasure In Trouble, Conspiracy In Kiev, and Teenager Cited For Filming Cops

The Feds May Confiscate $10 Million Gold Treasure Found By CA CouplePeople frequently criticize the State for being a blundering entity that cannot do anything right. These detractors are not giving State agents credit for the one thing that they do exceptionally well. Of course I am referring to the delicate skill of confiscating property and getting away with it. We are conditioned to accept government theft as a way of life. When is the last time you heard a politician argue for lower taxes? The State on the other hand. If you steal from them, they never forget. A couple in California may find this out the hard way. Last week, it was reported that a California couple found a stash of gold coins that could be worth more than 10 million dollars. Of course, half of their treasure would need to be turned over to the State no questions asked, because that's how the State rolls. This week the couple received the shocking news that they may not be permitted to keep any of the treasure. The Libertarian Republic reports:

The gold coins may be a previously undiscovered bounty that an employee of the San Francisco Mint was convicted of stealing in 1901. There were reports in the late 1800′s that these could be the coins stolen by Walter Dimmick, an employee in the Mint at the time. He began working at the mint in 1889 and in 1901 he was given the keys to the vault. An audit at the time revealed a $30,000 shortage in $20 Double Eagle Coins.

Moral of the story: The State can steal from you seemingly without limitation. They'll even steal treasure you find in your backyard, so if you find treasure don't tell the State. Were Murderous Kiev Snipers Hired By Ukrainian Opposition? The Guardian Reports:

A leaked phone call between the EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton and Estonian foreign minister Urmas Paet has revealed that the two discussed a conspiracy theory that blamed the killing of civilian protesters in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on the opposition rather than the ousted government. In the call, Paet said he had been told snipers responsible for killing police and civilians in Kiev last month were protest movement provocateurs rather than supporters of then-president Viktor Yanukovych. Ashton responds: "I didn't know … Gosh."

In the leaked call Paet discussed, among other things, talks with the doctors that examined victims and found all were shot with the same type of bullet. The Estonian foreign ministry has confirmed the accuracy of the leaked call. Of course, the U.S. and it's allies are saying that the call was leaked by Russia in order to incriminate the new Ukrainian regime. It is not likely to deduce which side is telling the truth, without being privy to more information. Although, it is important to ask questions and to continue to challenge what is being reported. Why would Viktor Yanukovych, the former president of Ukraine, fire on his own people when his country was on the brink of collapsing into chaos? Strategically, it made absolutely no sense. The only party that benefited form the perceived violence at the hands of the then Ukrainian president was the opposition.

Teenager Cited For Filming Cop SpeedingRawStory.com reported on the effort by police in Topeka, Kansas to deter a 17-year-old from filming cops breaking the law.
On Monday, he plead not guilty to new charges. In a second video he posted Sunday, he filmed a patrol car allegedly speeding and failing to use a turn signal, and then was pulled over for what police say was inattentive driving and driving behind a television receiver. No receiver is shown.Mikkelson told the Topeka Capital-Journal he made the film to protect himself.“I’m not stopping,” he said. “Photography is not a crime. I’m trying to hold people accountable for their actions.”

This case may seem insignificant and I'll admit that the young man's manners in the video are inappropriate, but this does not take away from the fact that he is doing nothing legally wrong. On the other hand, the police officer broke two laws during recording and faced zero repercussions. It is not illegal to record video of police officers on duty. Even the threat of being recorded serves the purpose of holding police officers accountable to the same laws they are paid to uphold.Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!
