Disturbing Directive Authorizes Obama To Turn Military On US Citizens
The Washington Times has uncovered a terrifying directive, No. 3025.18, “Defense Support of Civil Authorities,” which was issued in 2010 and primarily deals with functions of government like firefighting and other services during an emergency, or "state of emergency." However, as usual, the State has smuggled in language that authorizes Obama to turn our military against us within our own borders.
“This appears to be the latest step in the administration’s decision to use force within the United States against its citizens,” said a defense official opposed to the directive.Directive No. 3025.18, “Defense Support of Civil Authorities,” was issued Dec. 29, 2010, and states that U.S. commanders “are provided emergency authority under this directive.”“Federal military forces shall not be used to quell civil disturbances unless specifically authorized by the president in accordance with applicable law or permitted under emergency authority,” the directive states.
So any protests against the government can be potentially attacked pending authorization by the President. That's lovely. Seems like that would violate our right to assemble, would it not? But wait, there's more with even more telling language.
“In these circumstances, those federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the president is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances” under two conditions.The conditions include military support needed “to prevent significant loss of life or wanton destruction of property and are necessary to restore governmental function and public order.” A second use is when federal, state and local authorities “are unable or decline to provide adequate protection for federal property or federal governmental functions.”
"Necessary to restore governmental function and public order..." Right there is the nut of the matter. The State has authorized itself to attack its own citizens in order to assure that it's monopoly on violence and power stays in place. Should the government be overthrown or removed from power in any sense Obama or his commanders can order military strikes to "restore governmental function." If you are wondering why the founding fathers installed the 2nd Amendment, this is why.Additionally, "public Order" in itself is a joke. This is a concept invented by the State to control the populace and maintain a police state wherein any behavior that falls outside the parameters of decided state guidelines is grounds for detention (or in this case, use of deadly force).Thank god for the internet and the availability of these documents.
