The Morning Roar: Google To Launch 180 Satellites, New Federal Mortgage Database, Herman Cain Hints At Running For President

Welcome to your Tuesday edition of The Morning Roar!Google To Launch 180 Satellites To Provide Internet Access For Entire PlanetGoogle has made media outlets aware of further plans to beef up their ability to supply internet access across the entire globe.As the demand for internet access continues to increase throughout the world, Google has plans to supply the access by launching a fleet of 180 satellites to provide web access to 4.8 billion people not yet online. The tech giant will spend in excess of $1 billion on the technology.This announcement follows on the heels of Google’s plans to launch high-altitude balloons with the expectation of providing broadband service to remote areas and their announcement last month to build solar powered drones to achieve a similar objective. The Daily Mail Online reports on the details:

Google's venture is being led by Greg Wyler, founder of satellite-communications start-up O3b Networks, and depending on the network's final design, the group may double the number of proposed satellites.The project is the latest venture from a Silicon Valley to connect the world to the internet in the hopes of boosting revenues.A separate project by Google, dubbed Project Loon, is designing high-altitude balloons to provide broadband service to remote parts of the world.The helium-filled balloons inflate to 49ft (15m) in diameter and carry transmitters that could beam 3G-speed internet to remote regions.Project Loon was developed in the company's X Lab by the same team behind Google Glasses and the driverless car.It is hoped that it could save developing countries the high cost of laying fibre cables to get online and lead to a dramatic increase in internet access for the likes of Africa and south-east Asia.In April, the company also acquired Titan Aerospace, which is building solar-powered drones to provide similar connectivity.

We truly live in amazing times, but these groundbreaking announcements also come with a healthy dose of skepticism with regards to how these projects could affect individual privacy rights. In the past we’ve seen the federal government use telecommunications and tech companies to spy on private citizens. As a result, it is justified to fear that the State will attempt to use the technology these companies develop as a way to spy on citizens in the future. This doesn’t mean this technology should not be utilized, but instead the State needs to be excluded from interfering. Although this sounds implausible, if we want liberty to thrive, we need to start excluding the State from leaching off the success of the private sector and using it as a means to intrude in the lives of individuals.New Federal Database Will Track Credit Scores and Financial HistoryWhat’s that you say? Another federal database is being compiled? That’s just what we need!I bought a house about a year and a half ago, up until that time I was a staunch proponent of renting and avoiding the “American Dream” of getting in debt up to your eyeballs by way of taking out a mortgage on a house. But I found a deal I couldn’t pass up on a fixer upper, and up until right now I didn’t have any regrets.  Then I stumbled across an article today stating that the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) had given notice of its intent to database personal data points on every American that possesses a mortgage (which could include as many as 227 million Americans.)Police State USA reports on the monstrosity:

These points include things like financial histories, credit card balances, credit scores, personal demographics, lists of assets and property, family information, and more.Assembled with the help of the the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, the database’s stated purpose is for research and modeling.  The agencies have been collecting data for modeling for years, but the addition of many new pieces of personally identifiable information is a reversal of previously stated policy.The database will include very specific and personal information on the borrowers and co-borrowers.  According to the Federal Register Notice on April 16, 2014, the database includes:Individual’s name, address, and phone number; Individual’s Social Security Number; Individual’s gender, race, ethnicity, and religion; Individual’s marital status; Individual’s household composition (number and ages of males, females, children); Individual’s household income; Individual’s credit score; Individual’s education records; Individual’s military status/records; Individual’s employment status/records; Individual’s bank account numbers; List of individual’s “financial events in the last few years”; List of individual’s “life events in the last few years”; List of individual’s other assets/wealth; Individual’s current mortgage balance; Individual’s current monthly mortgage payment; Individual’s payment delinquency records; Individual’s bankruptcy records; Individual’s credit card numbers; Individual’s credit card balances; Individual’s credit card charge limit and the highest balance charged; Individual’s minimum payments due on all loans; Attributes of the property (square footage, number of rooms, lot size…); Sale price and down payment of the property; Mortgage information (dates, interest rate, amount, loan servicer…);

I certainly don’t remember signing a contract agreeing to allow the federal government to collect this data. This database will include extremely private information and places everyone included in the database at a heightened risk of identity theft if this information falls into the wrong hands.The system went online May 27, 2014. If someone were to hack into the system and steal all of the data, they would have the necessary information already compiled for them to steal everyone’s identity.What a disgusting mess!Herman Cain Hints At Running For President AgainI’m sorry. I probably ruined your day by revealing that your sensitive financial information is being stored by the State. On top of that, this personal data has been neatly packaged for an experience hacker to steal your identity and all of your money. If you’re like me, you need a laugh after that realization. Lucky for you I think I have just the video to do the trick. I was reminded of this hilarious internet campaign video when Herman Cain hinted at running for President again in 2016.You remember Herman Cain right? He was the slick talking candidate during the Republican Presidential primary that offered catchy slogans during debates. Remember the 9-9-9 tax plan? Sure it would actually raise taxes on the majority of American, but damn was it a catchy slogan! He also had one of the most incredibly absurd internet campaign video that has ever been produced. Without further ado, I present an actual campaign video that Herman Cain signed off on!I pray to God Herman Cain runs for President in 2016 again.
