The Morning Roar: Clinton Losing Lead on Rand, CA Legalizes Alternative Currencies, and US Sends Troops Back to Iraq

Your Tuesday Morning Roar!Hillary Clinton Losing Edge Over Rand Paul & Others in Zogby Poll Hillary Clinton has been taking some well-deserved shots lately, and her new book isn't helping matters. Fortunately, it is helping to ebb her lead over potential GOP presidential candidates, including Rand Paul. From the Washington Examiner:Clinton's lead, which was a strong 21 points over Paul, has dropped precipitously since the last polling, falling to 48 percent to 36 percent.

“It is significant that in every case the runaway favorite again polls under 50 percent and that both Governor Bush and Senator Paul continue to increase their support among key groups. Clinton has almost universal name recognition among likely voters and it is unlikely that she could say or do anything to increase her support base,” said Zogby

Rand has been saying the right things to woo GOP voters lately, and his wide stance, which touches upon tried and true GOP talking points and libertarian ideals that appeal to the left, could be eating away at the independent vote. While I still think Rand in the White House would be a long-shot in 2016, it certainly is looking more plausible by the day.CA Bill Legalizes Alternative Currencies Including Bitcoin & Dogecoin California is on a roll! First the CA Assembly votes to turn off resources to the NSA and now Governor Jerry Brown has given the go-ahead (on an official state level) to alternative currencies.

Today, Reuters is reporting that California governor Jerry Brown has passed a bill that effectively reverses the state's stance on alternative currencies. The bill, dubbed AB 129, nullifies an older bill that made other currencies besides the dollar illegal. Here's the exact language:

"This bill makes clarifying changes to current law to ensure that various forms of alternative currency such as digital currency, points, coupons, or other objects of monetary value do not violate the law when those methods are used for the purchase of goods and services or the transmission of payments."

Whether this blow to the fiat currency that the State is so eager to protect will inspire other states to follow remains to be seen, but it's a start.U.S. Sending 300 Troops Back To Iraq, Along With Drones & HelicoptersThe "withdrawl" of our troops from Iraq hit a big hiccup today, as the Pentagon announced it would be sending 300 troops back to the war-ravaged country in order to bolster embassy security, airport security and to "provide security and logistics support" in the city of Baghdad. Via Yahoo/Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States is ramping up its military presence in Iraq, deploying around 300 additional troops as well as helicopters and drone aircraft in response security concerns in Baghdad, officials said on Monday."These forces are separate and apart from the up to 300 personnel the president authorized to establish two joint operations centers and conduct an assessment of how the U.S. can provide additional support to Iraq's security forces," Kirby said in a statement.
