TMR: ISIS Foley Beheading Video Likely Staged, Anti-Lyft CA Senator Gets A DUI, and Ben Swann to Mainstream TV?

Welcome to your Tuesday edition of the good 'ol Morning Roar!ISIS Video of James Foley's Beheading Likely StagedWhen I first caught wind of the video of journalist James Foley's beheading at the hands of ISIS, I was a bit skeptical. I didn't watch the video itself  (who would desire to see such a thing?), but the way it has been hyped so much by officials at the highest levels of the U.S. government along with the media coverage was enough to raise a few red flags. In Saudi Arabia - a U.S. ally and welfare recipient - at least 19 people have been beheaded since August 4th by the government, close to half for non violent offenses, and yet there is no such outrage. And the timing certainly seemed a little too convenient, what with the recent push for broader U.S. involvement in Iraq once again. Not wanting to come across as some sort of "wacky conspiracy theorists", I confined my skepticism to the realm of inter monologue for the most part while awaiting further information. Now it seems that further information has indeed reared its head, in the form of a report from The UK's Telegraph:

But a study of the four-minute 40-second clip, carried out by an international forensic science company which has worked for police forces across Britain, suggested camera trickery and slick post-production techniques appear to have been used.forensic analyst told The Times that no blood can be seen, even though the knife is drawn across the neck area at least six times.“After enhancements, the knife can be seen to be drawn across the upper neck at least six times, with no blood evidence to the point the picture fades to black,” the analysis said.Sounds allegedly made by Foley do not appear consistent with what may be expected.During Foley’s speech, there appears to be a blip which could indicate the journalist had to repeat a line. One expert commissioned to examine the footage was reported as saying: “I think it has been staged. My feeling is that the execution may have happened after the camera was stopped.”

What motive would a terrorist group have to stage a video, as opposed to simply carrying out the execution? Why kill James Foley off camera? Was it ISIS itself that staged the video? Now that we're already firmly entrenched in conspiracy land, it seems prudent to point out that the CIA has openly admitted to creating fake bin Laden videos in the past. In a 2010 report, former CIA officials described various plans that they would concoct to try to hype up a war in Iraq, and in the same report an official admitted that they went through with making a fake Osama bin Laden video:

The agency actually did make a video purporting to show Osama bin Laden and his cronies sitting around a campfire swigging bottles of liquor and savoring their conquests with boys, one of the former CIA officers recalled, chuckling at the memory. The actors were drawn from “some of us darker-skinned employees,” he said.

A 2012 BBC report essentially outed another bin Laden video as a hoax as well.Let's not forget that the U.S. government even trained and funded ISIS in Jordan in order to combat Assad in Syria. Add all of this together, and there is plenty of reason to doubt the official line not only regarding the James Foley video, but any and all purported motivations for further U.S. involvement in the Middle East.CA State Senator Gets DUI Hours After Voting For Anti-Ride Sharing BillNowadays when I need a ride somewhere - especially if I've been out and have indulged in an adult beverage or two - I don't hesitate to reach into my phone, open my Lyft app, and wait for a friendly driver to arrive, predictably on time. Ride sharing apps like Lyft and Uber are revolutionizing the way people get around in major cities, and provide people an alternative to traditional taxis that are typically cheaper, more reliable, and an all-around more positive experience. As would be expected, there are some who are none too thrilled about the success of ride-sharing apps. Can you guess what industry has lobbied for a ban to ride-sharing services in cities and states around the country? A gold star to whoever guessed "taxi companies, duh!"A bill in California that would impose restrictions on ride-sharing companies by requiring that drivers with criminal records be banned and would compel background checks and drunk tests upon them passed in the CA Senate last week. While this may sound harmless on the surface, there is no justification for the arbitrary imposition of this rule to be forced upon parities that otherwise consent to the driver-rider relationship. There are so many non-violent acts that are considered "crimes" today, that disqualifying anyone with the label "criminal" attached to them likely means disqualifying many completely harmless, qualified drivers. Lyft and Uber have excellent ratings systems, and suspend drivers who don't receive the highest ratings from riders. After the bill passed last week, one state senator who voted in favor of it, Senator Ben Hueso, was arrested on a drunk driving charge, The Daily Caller reports:

Hueso, a Democrat who represents the Golden state’s San Diego area, was picked up and jailed by California Highway Patrol with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 after police saw the senator’s car driving the wrong way down a one-way street,  according to the Sacramento Bee. He was released around noon the same day.

If only Senator Hueso had called a reliable Lyft driver - even one who was say, arrested for marijuana possession as a youth, for example - he might have kept others out of harms way, and saved face in the process. And since we've already entered into conspiracy-ville in today's edition of The Morning Roar, I may as well point out a likely reason Senator Hueso was such a supporter of the anti-ride sharing bill: his brothers own a taxi company! Who'da thunk?!Ben Swann Get a Trial Run at NewsMax - Mainstream Role in the Future? As Lions of Liberty don't shill for just anyone, but we've unabashedly supported independent journalist Ben Swann. Swann is a rare breed today, as a true "watchdog" journalist. This past week he got to fill in on NewsMax TV filling in for Steve Malzberg (I have no idea who that is ether) and did a great job. Check out a segment he did on the militarization of police.Swann not only has journalistic integrity, but he's proven favorable to the ideas of liberty. If he can get a wider audience with an outlet such as NewsMax TV, it can only bode well for those who advocate for individual liberty, for a watchdog media is a crucial element of maintaining a free society. For more about why we think Ben Swann is all that and a pack of skittles, check out my interview with Ben from the Lions of Liberty Podcast!
