We reported on the Oklahoma City cop repeatedly raping several women in a recent installment of Felony Friday. The recent criminal charges against cops in Oklahoma have put law enforcement on the defensive as they attempt to regain trust in the community. Police officers have predictably leaned on the “few bad apples” defense in order to excuse the officers’ despicable behavior. One police officer took an unconventional route and decided to speak out and inform women how to act proactively to avoid sexual assaults at the hands of police officers in the first place. The Huffington Post reports on a recent interview Capt. George Brown, a state trooper, had with local NBC News affiliate KJRH.

… Brown  told the KJRH anchor that women can keep their car doors locked and speak through a cracked window if a trooper approaches them. If the trooper asks a woman to get out of the car, Brown said, she can ask "in a polite way" why he wants her to do that. But the "best tip that he can give," the anchor said on air of her interview with Brown, "is to follow the law in the first place so you don’t get pulled over."

To be fair, Brown claimed after the interview went viral that he was referring to the general safety of women during traffic stops, and not specifically how to avoid sexual assaults by cops in the state.Brown’s comments have caused outrage, but even after clarification his remarks and honesty is refreshing. He offers logical, sound advice. The only way to be one hundred percent sure not to suffer abuse in any form at the hands of the police is by avoiding contact. This is easier said than done, but it is still sound advice.Baby Murdered In Foster Care After Being Taken Away Due To Father’s Marijuana UseMarijuana may be legal in Colorado, but authorities in the state are still using the drug as an instrument to tear families apart, this time with absolutely tragic consequences.A baby girl was taken away from her biological parents, Tierra and Ted Place, after the father told human services that he used marijuana. Human services had been summoned to the home after a fight between the couple. The baby, 11 month old Angel Lane Place, was dropped and shaken during her time in a foster home and died. Ted Place is now threatening to sue Mesa County.ABC7 reports:

A 20-year-old woman from Grand Junction is facing charges in the death of her 11-month-old foster daughter. The Grand Junction Police Department said Sydney Danielle White told investigators she "accidentally dropped" the infant, Angel Lane Place, on the floor September 12, and then on September 15, grabbed her by the neck and shook her.Police said Angel arrived at Children's Hospital in Aurora from Grand Junction on September 16 and was taken off life support the next day. The coroner said Angel died of "blunt force head injuries" and ruled her death a homicide. White is charged with child abuse resulting in death and is in the Mesa County jail on a $100,000 bond......CALL7 Investigator Theresa Marchetta spoke Tuesday with Angel's biological mother, Tierra Place, who said her daughter her been removed from her home because she and her husband fought, and said her husband told human services he used marijuana.Place said her brother is married to White, and she approved of Angel being placed with the couple. She said her brother, who is 21, checked in with her every day."This is like losing her twice. I don't know how someone could possibly do that to a baby," she said. "Inside I know she is walking with God."

If the father smoking marijuana was the sole reason the baby was taken away, then those responsible for placing the child in foster care should pay for their role in creating the circumstances that lead to the child’s death.Candidate For RI Gov.
