TMR: Snowden Urges Dropbox Users To Discontinue Use, Obama Administration Waiting To Release New HealthCare.gov Premiums, Jimmy Kimmel Asks “What Is A GMO?”

As certain as the sun rising in the east, here is your Monday edition of The Morning Roar!Snowden Urges Dropbox Users To Discontinue UseEdward Snowden is speaking out against Dropbox and some other internet services that he believes are “hostile to privacy.” Snowden has been urging web users to abandon unencrypted communication in order to prevent governments from spying on citizens.During an hour-long virtual interview with The New Yorker magazine, Snowden broached many topics, including how authorities are able to convince citizens to concede individual rights and the importance of not trusting companies that collaborate with governments. Perhaps his harshest criticism was doled out to well-known internet services and social platforms Dropbox, Facebook, and Google.Russia Today reported on Snowden’s virtual interview with The New Yorker:

In particular, Snowden advised web users to  “get rid” of Dropbox. Such services only insist on encrypting user data during transfer and when being stored on the servers. Other services he recommends instead, such as SpiderOak, encrypt information while it’s on your computer as well. “We're talking about dropping programs that are hostile to privacy,” Snowden said. The same goes for social networks such as Facebook and Google, too. Snowden says they are “dangerous” and proposes that people use other services that allow for encrypted messages to be sent, such as RedPhone or SilentCircle. The argument that encryption harms security efforts to capture terrorists is flawed, even from a purely legalistic point of view, Snowden said, explaining that you can still retain encryption and have the relevant authorities requesting private information from phone carriers and internet providers on a need-to-know basis.

The government’s argument against encryption is pretty simple. They claim encryption helps all of the bad people - terrorists, pedophiles, and murderers. The government’s fear mongering campaign against encryption has been underway for some time, but has shifted into high gear of late. You don’t have to look any further for evidence than the recent release of the iPhone 6 and the ensuing response from the FBI and local police forces, which called it the phone of choice for pedophiles. Of course, they chose this label in order to associate the worst possible crimes with someone who would choose to encrypt their communications. If you do choose to take Edward Snowden’s advice and get rid of your Facebook, Google, and Dropbox accounts I don’t blame you, but please scroll to the end of The Morning Roar to sign up for our weekly newsletter so we are able to stay in contact with you! And if you’re staying “on the grid” go ahead and follow us on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter in the same space at the end of TMR.Snowden’s call to leave these services is credible, but it is pretty hard to build a libertarian following without utilizing these services at this point in time. So here at Lions of Liberty we won't be taking his advice...just yet?Check out Snowden’s entire virtual interview with The New Yorker magazine below:Obama Administration Waiting To Release New HealthCare.gov Premiums Until After ElectionsSurprise, surprise, the Obama Administration is going to hold back announcing increases to HealthCare.gov premiums until after the midterm elections. The Daily Caller reports:

HHS secretary Sylvia Burwell has said that the administration has put the new version of HealthCare.gov through its paces. And the administration has allowed insurers to test the site out themselves — although they made clear that insurance companies are not allowed to share their results with the media. And yet, although the website appears to be, finally, ready for primetime, the administration has still decided not to release premium rates on the website for another month,  according to The Associated Press. The open enrollment period begins Nov. 15, over a week after the Nov. 4 elections, and lasts just three months — half as long as the first open enrollment run. The GOP has urged the administration to release the rates as soon as they’re finalized so that customers have more time to budget (and presumably because hikes would be detrimental to Obamacare supporters come election time).

It is assumed that premiums will increase for Obamacare, but the voters will not find out how much until after they cast their vote in the midterm election on November 4th.This is what happens when the government takes control of an entire industry. They act in the best interest of the government and protect government themselves at all costs.Jimmy Kimmel Asks “What Is A GMO?”If you make a point to avoid foods with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), then you should probably know what the acronym GMO stands for. In a recent segment on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show his camera crew went to local farmers markets asking if people try to avoid GMOs and asked “what is a GMO?”The answers were….all over the place.Read The Morning Roar every weekday Monday-Friday!The Lions of Liberty are on TwitterFacebook & Google+Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!
