2A Watch: Miss America Judges Got a Surprise from Miss South Carolina

With our resident 2nd Amendment scholar and regular author of 2A Watch John Odermatt out on new baby patrol, it falls to me as the next man up to bring our readers the latest 2nd Amendment news. This week has an interesting example of a surprising candidate defending the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans, and all while looking fantastic. The judges of the Miss American Pageant asked Daja Dial, the contestant from South Carolina, if she would support a ban on "military style assault weapons." Naturally, this was a well-thought out move by the producers of the program. They saw a beautiful black woman from South Carolina and presumed that it would be a slam dunk to coax an easy condemnation of 2nd Amendment rights out of her, following the tragic church shooting in Charleston earlier this year. Daja did not take the bait, and instead defended the ownership of these (and all) guns, emphasizing that education would help to reduce gun violence. Her quote:

"I don't but I think it's because we need to increase education. We have to go back there to teach people the proper way to use guns. Then we will reduce the risk of having gun-related accidents. It starts with education."

If more contestants were cut from the same cloth as Daja, I might actually tune into these shows once in a while. As Breitbart points out, this question is also absurd, as "assault weapon" violence accounts for .012 of all deaths in America in stats from the last year (2011) available.Let's all enjoy Daja putting Miss America's producers and judges back in their place, and have a good laugh at them swinging and missing at what they clearly thought would be a home run.Check out previous editions of Second Amendment Watch! The Lions of Liberty are on Twitter, Facebook & Google+Check out our YouTube Channel!Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!Join our private Facebook Group: The Lions of Liberty Forum
