Rand Pauluses and Minuses - Ron Paul Will Finally Campaign With Rand

Another nail biting edition of RPM this week, folks. Once more, I find myself composing this on a day when it may or may not be announced that Rand will make the cut for the next GOP debate, airing later this week. Rand thinks he will. So do I. I'll update this as news comes in. HOT UPDATE! (3:15pm PST)RAND'S IN. Duck, duck, duck, GOOSE! We'll discuss this and more in our RPM podcast tomorrow, so check back in.Foxdebate- PAULUSIn other news...Ron campaigns with Rand Not too much to go into here - Ron Paul has finally taken to stumping for and with his son for the first time in this election cycle, making a first appearance in Iowa early next week.

Ron and Rand Paul will host a "The Revolution Continues Rally" at the University of Iowa on Jan. 31. The younger Paul is a Kentucky senator who is running for the Republican presidential nomination.

We can question whether Ron should have campaigned earlier, or if maybe he was holding out until his son came back to his libertarian senses a bit before taking to the trail, but no matter how you slice it, it's still a...- PAULUSLife at Conception ActLet me begin by saying that I can wholly understand how some people could view this as a positive. Perhaps you are deeply steeped in religious ideology. I am not. And thus, I view Rand's proposed latest bill, which seeks to grant 14th Amendment rights to unborn children from the moment of conception as a religion-based infringement on the liberties of women cloaked in the guise of a constitutional right. Let's hear it from Rand, however:

Paul said the legislation "declares what most Americans believe and what science has long known — that human life begins at the moment of conception.""Only when America chooses, remembers, and restores her respect for life will we rediscover our moral bearings and truly find our way," he said.Paul's legislation wouldn't amend the Constitution and wouldn't "require the prosecution of any woman for the death of her unborn child" or ban the use of birth control.

If the bill wouldn't prosecute a woman for the death of her unborn child, it would have to be aimed at abortion clinics, which, if closed, would in turn drive women seeking abortions into back alley clinics. That of course is a dangerous proposition, but I guess as a doctor Rand sees no problem with that. Because doctors always advocate for back alley medicine to be practiced in the shadows, right?Paul had previously spoken out against late term abortions, which is something I agree with. Abortions at or after seven months shouldn't be permitted. But to unilaterally say that from the moment of conception, when a would-be human is simply a bundle of splitting cells, that it has the same constitutional rights as a born human being? I'm sorry, but absolutely not. That is purely a religious viewpoint masquerading as political righteousness, and a proposition that would cause vast harm medically and economically while tearing an already raw rip in the fabric of America even wider.Actual bill text here. - MINUS100 duck sized horsesRand again became a social media darling during a Reddit Q&A when he answered the age old question: would you rather fight a horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses? Obama ignored the question, whereas Paul took it on full bore.

"I'm running for president. I hear the current president didn't answer this vital question. We should expect more out of the next president. Obviously the answer is 100 duck sized horses,"

"GUYS HE ACTUALLY ANSWERED IT," user ve-gone wrote, while mostlyharmless26 added, "THIS MAN CAN BE PRESIDENT."

For once, I can say I agree with Rand 100% - that's the kind of assessment of power that we need. Notice how Rand also didn't advocate for occupying the duck sized horse homeland, or bombing any neutral hospitals that may or may not be treating tiny horses.
