Lisa Hanna Served 15 Years on Bogus Charges, NOW She's a Lawyer
On today's episode Lisa Hanna join John to share her remarkable story. Lisa is a US Army veteran, having served 2 tours overseas. She graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, in 1993. However, she suffered a personal tragedy months earlier when her son passed away. Drugs and alcohol became Lisa’s medication to numb the depression after her only son's death.She did get clean and left her abusive husband Scott. Then Scott was busted with methamphetamine, marked bills, and stolen guns. When pressured by prosecutors he agreed to “cooperate” in exchange for a reduced sentence. He said Lisa was his source, which she claims is not true. Lisa was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a substance containing Methamphetamine. She served more than 15 years in federal prison.While in prison, Lisa wrote a book called Prison Bitch, a humorous memoir covering her time inside federal female camps and prisons. When Lisa got out of prison she kept pushing and reached her goal to become a lawyer! She was sworn in recently is and she can legally practice law.
