Felony Friday: Philly Cop Cheers As Kids Fight
If a mother traveled around her neighborhood searching for kids that her children could fight, then it would surely only be a matter of hours before she would find herself locked in a jail cell. It is quite possible this kind of behavior could result in the mother being ruled unfit to raise children. The response is much different when the violence-seeking mother is a member of the police force. This is exactly what occurred in Philadelphia over the past few years. It sounds unbelievable, but a mother that happened to be a Philadelphia police officer allegedly drove her kids around seeking other teenagers to fight. One time she even jumped into the action when her daughter started losing a fight and punched a teenage girl repeatedly in the eye.Philly.com reports that the officer, Tamika Gross, has a history of instigating brawls with youths and even fought another woman while on duty. An investigator wrote in a 2012 report for internal affairs that Gross was present “on more than one occasion when groups of juveniles gathered for the purpose of provoking fights.”In 2009, the Daily News reported that Gross fought another woman while on duty. The woman was charged with simple assault and received four years of probation. Officer Gross was placed on desk duty and was not charged with a crime.Oh the benefits of being a tax guzzling police officer!Thankfully it looks like Tamika Gross’ special privilege has finally been exhausted. The District Attorney in Philadelphia apparently had to draw the line somewhere. It looks like a step over that line included Tamika Gross being recorded on video punching fourteen-year-old girl in the face. Gross has been charged with two counts of simple assault, four counts of recklessly endangering another person, four counts of corruption of minors, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.Philly.com reports:
According to District Attorney spokeswoman Tasha Jamerson, Gross has been charged with 11 counts in three separate cases dating back to 2012. In the first instance, on Jan. 25, 2012, Gross allegedly brought her 18-year-old son to fight a 16-year-old boy, an encounter which led to an all-out street brawl, according to prosecutors. In the second case, in March of 2012, Gross is accused of bringing her daughter to fight two sisters, Jamerson said. During that incident, Gross was allegedly heard screaming that nobody would get arrested because she was an off-duty police officer. The final case Gross is being charged with is the Lincoln High School fight involving Haggins-Montgomery's daughter.
These days it seems like multiple times a day there is a breaking story revealing disturbing behavior by police officers. A listing of a few of these atrocities includes police stripping innocent people during no-knock raids, burning babies by throwing a flash grenade into his crib, and even running prostitution rings. These sometimes horrifying stories provide overwhelming evidence that individuals have chosen a flawed method for procuring protection and securing their liberties. The current system simply does not hold cops accountable for their actions. If you were going to hire a babysitter or someone to do work on your house, would you hire a professional because the “elected” leaders in your community appointed them to be babysitters and handymen for the community? Would you not question if they were the best fit for your needs?Of course you would not allow this to occur. The effort to choose the correct contractors for these jobs would include reviewing trusted referrals, but probably the most weight would be placed upon what your very own investigation uncovered about the candidate. Surely each candidate would be vetted extensively before deciding who to award the work. If we place such emphasis on the selection of babysitters, painters, and landscapers, then why don’t we do the same for security? Why do we treat something as important as the protection of our families so differently?Wouldn’t it make sense to want to know the individuals that are charged with protecting our property? Would it be too much to ask that instead of police officer’s salaries being confiscated from our paychecks, that instead a consensual agreement between a contracted security professional and an individual (or group) could be agreed upon? This may seem unreasonable when viewed through the lens of today’s reality, but it makes no difference how far removed we are from that reality today. Our sights must be set upon a future that is not based upon coercion. Imagine the satisfaction of voluntarily surrendering your hard earned dollars to a private security contractor that pledges to protect your family.Check out our past editions of Felony Friday! The Lions of Liberty are on Twitter, Facebook & Google+Receive access to ALL of our EXCLUSIVE bonus audio content – including “Conspiracy Corner”, “Degenerate Gamblers” and the “League of Liberty Podcast” by joining the Lions of Liberty Pride and supporting us on Patreon!
